HI-TECH HEAT WELDED SEAMSAll 2024 HPx boards now incorporate state-of-the-art heat-welded seam technology. This provides a stronger seam and an enhanced cosmetic finish.
VISIBILTY & DURABILITY
Despite the light weight of the HPx construction, the durability of the board is maintained, along with its resistance to UV. The hi gloss finish of the GTR HPx not only looks pretty cool, but also serves an important safety purpose, with a highly visible board on the water. It looks great on the beach too! The cosmetic finish on the board is glossy and immaculate.
CARBON HYBRID PADDLE
All our HPx boards are shipped with a 3 piece, adjustable, high quality HYBRID CARBON paddle. These have a fully adjustable telescopic handle and the hybrid construction provides a lighter, stiffer and therefore a more efficient paddling experience than aluminium. This will enhance your touring adventures.

VERDICT
The O’Shea 12’6 GTR is an exceptional race-tourer. The board excels in
small wave surf and open water touring, offering ideal sea-going dimensions and reliable performance. With its HPx construction, the GTR is
lightweight, ultra-stiff, and durable, ensuring effortless gliding and all-water
affinity. Enhanced by smart graphics and comprehensive features, this
board is ideal for both committed exploration and beach racing, maintaining
O’Shea’s reputation for quality and innovation.
OVERVIEW
The O’Shea 12’6 GTR is a race-tourer with a purposeful outline. A long,
tapered nose sweeps out to a sleek midsection, then runs in parallel rails to
a squared-off tail. The rocker line is slammed to the water with moderate
nose lift at the fore of the board. On deck, you get nose and tail carry
handles for portage, two beach start handles, and a centre handle. Fore
and aft cargo bungees will secure your kit. There’s a tow point under the
nose and a leash point at the back. The deck pad is diamond-cut EVA.
Underneath, a proper US centre fin box provides a stiff, versatile fin system. All the features are extra reinforced, and the HPx construction is very
tough. The GTR board comes with an extendable warranty of up to 5
years, showcasing ultra-lightweight and super stiff construction. It employs
state-of-the-art high-temperature heat-welded seam technology, making
it ultra-compact, easily foldable, and transportable. The package ships
with an O’Shea HP6 Triple Action Power Pump, carbon hybrid paddle,
O’Shea coil leash, and a spacious O’Shea Pro Backpack for easy packing.
PERFORMANCE
The first thing you notice about the HPx construction GTR is
its impressive stiffness. On the water, this translates to a beautiful, effortless glide. The board carries great inertia when
underway and prowls through surface perturbations like a hard
board. We’re big fans of the dimensions; 28” wide is the ideal
width for all-water affinity. It’s wide enough for paddlers ‘stepping up’ from a big all-rounder to quickly adapt to, and sleek
enough to fit better within the chop and catch bumps than
a wider board. The GTR is a board with two goals. First, it’s
an excellent open-water tourer with good kit carrying potential. On rivers and lakes, you can really load it up. On bumpy
oceans, it’s a superb fast day-tripper. Second, this is a fast, stiff
board for racing. If you’re ever lucky enough to find a technical
beach surf race, the GTR would be an excellent partner. It hacks out
through the surf and is great fun on the run in.
